John Carmack says Blu-ray offers better graphics

The PS3 version of id’s upcoming shooter, Rage, will offer superior graphics performance on PS3 than Xbox 360. This time, it is not because of the advantageous horsepower, but the compression. With Microsoft’s licensing fees, it costs too much to distribute multiple discs. Textures would need to be compressed “to fit the game’s assets on two DVDs.”
Microsoft might need to rethink these fees as many games are dropping exclusivity and moving to different platforms.
