Lich King Breaks Sales Record Selling 2.8M in 24 Hours
Looks like Blizzard has brushed away EA Mythic’s attempt to steal its thunder as they break new records with the release of the Lich King. Blizzard managed to sell 2.8 million copies of their new expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, in just 24 hours.
“Wrath of the Lich King contains some of the best content we’ve created for the game so far, and we look forward to seeing even more players log in to experience it in the days ahead, ” boasts Mike Morhaime, Blizzard CEO.
This new record will put Burning Crusade, which sold 2.4 million copies, in second place. Prior to launch World of Warcraft had a subscription base of 11 million players.
Wow.
