What your PSP in Home will do for you
New details have surfaced thanks to IGN on how exactly the PSP will play a role in Playstation Home.
It will “be a pretty integral part of your PlayStation Home experience. From the device, you can jump straight to your wardrobe, change the color of your word balloon and prompt color bubbles, call friends, jump from location to location, and create multiplayer game sessions,” IGN stated.
Probably one of the better features, as noted by IGN, is that you will often notice other players with a large controller over their head. This means that they are engaged in a game that you can simply join by standing next to them and pressing X. You can also use the PSP to create a showdown. Once the you are done you are brought right back to Home.
It appears they are emphasizing seemless integration with games, which is incrediblity important if they expect Playstation Home to catch on.

I got in on the beta today and I can confirm that the PSP is pretty much the be all and end all for adjusting the experience. All your settings are handled there, as well as how to customise your character and personal space.
Just no beards yet. ^___^
I really like how easy a lot of things are in Home.
For example, I was just goofing around with a chess board in the mall and another player joined my game and we started playing chess. It was seamless and pain free. The same thing happened in bowling as well.
I did notice that a lot of the interaction was through the in game PSP. Sure you could walk around the courtyard or in the mall but you can also quickly get to where you want to go using the PSP.
It has positional sound. So when you get closer to a video screen, you can start to hear the video playing - and it gets louder as you get closer. When you are close enough to it, you can hit X and it will take up most of your screen so that you can watch the video without having to see through people’s heads as they walk by.
I just got my invite last night so I am looking forward to trying it out tonight. Some of the features (like that chess one kinadian) defiantly sound interesting.
Why havent i gotten in on this?
I think the best part about the whole thing is how polished it is. It doesn’t feel like a Beta. Everything is pretty much seamless. There are loading times between the main sections but once you’re in a section it’s great.
If anyone is interested in friending me, I’m kinadian on PSN (and Xbox Live as well).
